Lewis Hamilton has received an apology from Fernando Alonso

The Spaniard said he was mistaken when he called Hamilton "an idiot"

and questioned his driving prowess prior to this week's Dutch Grand Prix.

Hamilton argued that despite denying having talked to Alonso,

he had already put the argument behind him.

When Hamilton made his F1 debut in 2007, the two drivers had a difficult year working together at McLaren.

Since then, they have gotten along well both on and off the track,

although in Spa, Alonso was upset when Hamilton struck him at Les Combes while attempting to pass.

Hamilton's race was ended by the incident, and Alonso called him an idiot for starting it over the team radio.
